Common Council meets 6pm Wednesday, March 7 at Ithaca City Hall on the 3rd floor. You should visit us in person! Or watch us on channel 15 on Spectrum cable or online at ithacany.viebit.com. I also live-tweet meetings under username @duc2ndward.
It’s a big agenda, which you can find here. Let’s take a look at some highlights:
- GIAC’s acquisition of the Immaculate Conception gymnasium: GIAC needs additional recreational space and INHS’ plans for Immaculate Conception include selling the gym to the city.
- The Cecil A. Malone Drive bridge (behind Wegmans) will be replaced with one featuring a wider bridge deck that’ll accommodate industrial traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists. We’ll vote to authorize that project.
- Lobbying the New York State Legislature to allow Ithaca to reduce the city-wide default speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph. This is part of the City’s Vision Zero effort to eliminate all traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries.
And there’s lots more including mayoral appointments to volunteer boards. Hope to see you there!
